"Rio de Janeiro well known as "Cidade Maravilhosa. Where my heart is captured. The city plays with all the senses, but it also has great contrasts. There is a big difference between rich and poor, many corruption and the favelas (slums) are not always that safe. But beyond these negative points, you feel really welcome here and despite of the poverty they enjoy the day that is given.

I'm living here in Rio de Janeiro now. I have worked with street children and people from the favelas. We taught English mixed with creativity, play and dance, Graphic design, intense discussions about topics (like abortion, tourism in the favelas and legislation), we organized Dutch festivals and 3 years ago we opened a store in the favela Maré! With products from mainly recycled materials. This is now being continued by the Brazilian women. And here on this page you see more of the projects we did and are still doing :)

It is important that we work together with people from all over the world, to create a strong bond, sharing and loving.

With our childbook "I want to fly!" we made a theater for the children at favela da Maré.

We asked them what their dreams are and to draw it in the house. We asked the older ones to make a solution for a problem they see in their environment. After drawing we enjoyed ourselves with donated cupcakes and we gave some of our books to the school. It was great and there will be more to follow!

The drawings will also be projected during the Rio Mapping Festival at our event Rock no Museu da Maré!

With our childbook "I want to fly!" we have been reading it with children from a Portuguese Language group in Amsterdam. We made flying objects with reused materials and we  asked them what their dreams are and to draw it in the house. We celebrated the Festa Junina, a typical Brazilian party and they bought our books. For every book that's got sold, we will donate one to the projects in favela da Maré.

The drawings will also be projected during the Rio Mapping Festival at our event Rock no Museu da Maré!
